PSV claimed an easy win over Almere despite not having one of their best forwards.
PSV manager Peter Bosz has explained why he dropped Malik Tillman from PSV’s squad ahead of their match against Almere.
Tillman left Bayern Munich on a loan deal in the summer transfer window, hoping to get more playing time abroad as one of the club’s most promising youngsters.
Since then, Tillman has made only one league appearance for the Dutch giants, scoring one goal. An away match against Almere could’ve promised another opportunity for the 21-year-old, but he failed to show up in time.
“Tillman overslept, so I decided to leave him at home,” Bosz told reporters.
“I think there’s not a single coach out there where you get away with that. He was keen to join the team regardless, but I told him there was no need for it. He will be back in training on Sunday.”
Tillman plays alongside another USMNT star, Ricardo Pepi, at PSV. Pepi joined the Dutch giants on a €11m deal from Augsburg, finding a solid start to his career in Eredivisie.
Against Almere, Pepi scored his debut goal for PSV in the 93rd minute. Let’s see if his performance will convince Bosz to hand him a start against Go Ahead Eagles on Wednesday.
