Ahead of Argentina’s meeting with Brazil in the World Cup qualifier, head coach Lionel Scaloni gave an update on Lionel Messi’s return.
As confirmed by Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni, the team has received a major boost as Lionel Messi has been given a green signal to play against Brazil.
When Albiceleste called their captain for national duty for the World Cup qualifiers, many started questioning the risky decision.
Whilst the 34-year-old was still recovering from knee problems, he had missed out on two games for Paris Saint-Germain.
Nevertheless, Messi has been deemed fit enough to get some playing time on the field, having seen a substitute appearance in their recent win against Uruguay.
During a press conference ahead of their qualification encounter against Brazil, Scaloni put an end to injury rumours.
Messi was initially taken out at halftime during Ligue 1 match against Lille back in October. He then underwent treatment for his knee in Madrid along with teammate Leandro Paredes.
Argentina boss added on Paredes’ recovery by saying: “Leandro trained normally. We have to evaluate whether we will include him in the final call.”
“He arrived after many days off, but the important thing is that he is coming along well.”
