Arsenal have received the results of the scan Gabriel Martinelli underwent after his horrific-looking injury last Saturday.

19-year-old Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli has had a lot of bad luck when it comes to injuries. The young forward has already missed 32 games due to injury since joining the Gunners back in 2019. However, it looks like Martinelli’s luck may have finally turned around.

After twisting his ankle during the warm-up last Saturday, it seemed as though the player would be facing another long-term absence. The moment when Gabi sustains the horrific-looking injury had fans worried the forward could’ve torn his ligaments. The Brazilian looked like he was in severe pain and Arteta even confessed he caught the player in tears.

Despite this, Arsenal has just provided some positive news on Martinelli’s condition. The damage to his right ankle was far less serious than it looked. In fact, the player is recovering better than expected and is due to return to work very soon.

“Gabi turned his right ankle during the warm-up against Newcastle United on Saturday and was subsequently taken out of the starting line-up,” read the club’s statement.

“Gabi has progressed very well and we’re hoping that he will return to full training with the squad in the next few days.”

This is great news for both Arsenal and Martinelli as the youngster scored ten times for the Gunners last season. Moreover, the club also confirmed the highly-expected returns of Gabriel Magalhaes and Thomas Partey to the squad’s training sessions.
