Dayot Upamecano has raised uncertainty over his future despite having recently signed a contract extension with RB Leipzig.

2019/20 served as a breakthrough season for a handful of RB Leipzig players, one of which was defender Dayot Upamecano.

A rock at the back, the 21-year old center-back led his side to a third-place Bundesliga finish while ensuring that they finish the campaign with only 37 goals conceded, a statistic only bettered by champions Bayern Munich.

One of his best performances came in the Champions League quarter-finals wherein he managed to prevent Atletico Madrid from scoring from open play, helping Leipzig qualify for the next stage of the competition.

The Frenchman has since drawn many admiring glances from clubs across Europe as the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with his signing.

Upamecano signed a three-year contract extension with Leipzig only in July but hints a move away this summer could be on the cards as he admits to holding talks with other clubs.

“I have extended my contract with Leipzig,” he said, as reported by Goal.

“I am targeted by several clubs, I speak with clubs, but I have time. We will see what happens in the future.”

Upamecano recently earned his first senior call-up and is currently with the France national team as they prepare for the Nation League matches against Sweden and Croatia.
