According to a report, Manchester United will once again make a move for Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele when the January window opens.
Manchester United have seen an uncharacteristic start to their season and there could be a need for reinforcements at the club. In the summer window, the Red Devils made a move for Ousmane Dembele but a deal never materialized.
It appears the Premier League outfit will rekindle their interest in the Frenchman once again.
As per Mundo Deportivo, Dembele is still of interest to Old Trafford chiefs and they could make a bid to sign him at the start of 2021.
However, the report says United will only try to sign the 23-year-old until the end of the 2020/21 season.
That could once again prove to be a stumbling block in negotiations. Barca and United failed to agree on a deal for Dembele because the Catalan giants were only interested in an outright sale.
The plan was to use fees from the Frenchman’s sale to seal a move for Lyon’s Memphis Depay. That is still well on the cards but United will stick to their intent of getting the Frenchman on loan with no obligation to buy.
By January, Dembele will have only 18 months left on his Barcelona contract and United will feel they can get him for a cheaper fee even if they eventually decide to sign him on a permanent basis.
The report concludes that Barcelona will weigh their options and decide whether or not they will let the 23-year-old leave on a short-term basis.
