Ahead of their Champions League clash vs PSG, former Manchester United star commented about the club’s issues.

Former Manchester United legend Louis Saha admitted that the club is depending on Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes. Moreover, the Red Devils are missing the mark when it comes to defensive duties.

Evidently, United started the season 2020-21 with inconsistency seizing only six points in four Premier League games. On the other hand, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men netted 12 goals due to strong attacking prowess.

Somehow, the Reds managed to make it past the EFL Cup. And, United beat Newcastle 4-1 in the English League fixture last weekend.

Fernandes netted his 15th goal for the club vs the Magpies after his 55 million transfer from Sporting CP. Furthermore, he displayed a classy performance while assisting Marcus Rashford.

Additionally, if it was not for the Portugal international, United would not have taken third place on the table last season. Fernandes held the midfield together during the entire season to hype up the team’s mentality.

Nonetheless, his combination with Pogba turned out to be deadly for United’s opponents on numerous occasions. But now, the challenge lies ahead as the Red Devils look forward to their Champions League campaign.

Although, Pogba did not quite display his skills at Old Trafford yet. Though, the club keeps their hopes high after the renewal of his contract last week.

United will face Paris Saint-Germain in their tournament opener on Tuesday. And, Solskjaer’s side would like to repeat the famous 3-1 win at Parc des Princes from the season 2018-19.

Defensive concerns.

Furthermore, Saha believes his old club will cause havoc in the Paris Saint-Germain backline. However, he is worried about United’s defensive duties.

“Manchester United have lost a bit the defensive balance that they had last season. There is also a dependence on Pogba and Fernandes, the best players in the squad,” the former Red Devils striker told Ouest France.

“The numerous individual defensive errors since the beginning of the season have hurt them. But going forward, they are no joke.

“The youngsters Martial, Rashford and Greenwood (who is injured) are capable of the highest level and to put PSG’s defense in danger, which is also under reconstruction since the departure of Thiago Silva.

“There are things that you get punished for the Champions’ League. PSG have been warned.”
