The former Arsenal boss officially withdrew himself from the running to become Newcastle’s next manager.

Newcastle continue their search to hire a manager for their new project. Following their recent change of ownership, the Magpies are keen to secure their place among the Premier League front runners.

Emery Stay at Villarreal!

Unai Emery topped the Newcastle wish list to replace the departed Steve Bruce. However, the Spaniard committed his future to the Yellow Submarines by issuing an emotional statement on Wednesday.

“As much noise as there was yesterday in another country, within the club there was transparency and loyalty with the Roig family and with my staff, which is maximum and for me is the most important,” Emery’s statement reads.

“Villarreal CF is my home and I am 100% committed.”

Who else might take the job?

With Antonio Conte and Emery not being available, Newcastle are now looking for new candidates for the job.

According to Athletic, the Magpies are now eyeing a move for Eddie How as their next option. The 43-year-old has been out of work since he parted ways with Bournemouth a year ago.

Howe famously took the Cherries from League One to the Championship and then the Premier League, establishing a reputation as one of the best active English managers.

The number one task for the new manager will be to save Newcastle from relegation. The Magpies are now 19th in the Premier League, with only four points from their ten Premier League games.
