Despite their ongoing financial difficulties, Barca are trying to sign the Bayern Munich frontman.
Former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness finds it difficult to understand why Barcelona are trying to sign Robert Lewandowski and suggested the striker could do a u-turn.
The German feels Barca’s financial problems mean reports of an initial €32 million bid, along with a further €5 million in bonuses, for Lewandowski seem far-fetched. He even claims the La Liga club would’ve been bankrupt already in Germany.
“Barcelona want to acquire Lewandowski when they had a debt of 1.3 billion six months ago,” Hoeness told RTL.
“In Germany, they would have been bankrupt for a long time. The bankruptcy judge is at your door and they are making a million-euro offer to a Bayern player.”
Robert Lewandowski has not changed his mind, as of today. He wants Barcelona and he's not even in talks with any other club – just waiting for Bayern to make final decision and find potential replacement. 🇵🇱 #FCB

Lewandowski could change his mind
The Poland international, who will be out of contract in a year, reportedly wants to join Barcelona. His agent, Pini Zahavi, has said a lack of respect from Bayern has made him want to leave.
But club officials have reiterated they expect Lewandowski to honor the remaining year of his contract.
“At the moment, no one at Bayern will let Lewandowski leave,” Hoeness added.
“Obviously Bayern haven’t found a replacement so far, so their opinion is clear.
“If he stays, plays well, and continues to feel comfortable in Germany with his family, maybe he will come in January and say: Wow, I really like staying here, maybe I’ll stay two or three more years!”
