The English star is facing a long spell on the sidelines after sustaining an ACL injury.
Tyrone Mings has dismissed reports about his possible retirement from football.
After rupturing his ACL in the opening week of the Premier League season, Mings is set to miss the entire campaign. The injury has also cast serious doubts on Mings’ chances of representing England in the next year’s Euros.
Online rumours about Mings’ possible retirement from football have emerged on social media in recent days. However, the centre-back has now offered an update on Twitter, saying he won’t hang up his boots anytime soon.
“Can’t get rid of me that easy! You’re all helping me way more than you realise,” Mings said. “Thank you so much for all the messages people have sent me; I’ve read pretty much every single one.
“The cards, gifts in the post, the tweets, everything has been so appreciated and has helped me through this early stage. I’ll keep you updated.”
Mings has made a total of 166 appearances for Villa since joining the club in 2019. In the England international’s absence, Villa have found a solid start to their first European campaign in 13 years, winning three of their four group-stage matches in the Conference League.
