Two Championship sides made an immediate comeback to the Premier League after being relegated in the previous season.

Watford and Norwich City both the Championship clubs received an automatic promotion to the Premier League with games left in hand. With the help of Ismaila Sarr’s penalty kick, the Hornets confirmed their spot in the English top-tier on Saturday.Β

They beat Millwall 1-0 at Vicarage Road and now stand second after the Canaries with 10 points ahead of third-placed Brentford. Norwich already secured first place in the Championship last week. This marks a rare double as both these Premier League clubs were relegated during the 2019-20 campaign and emerged back.

A rare accomplishment.

If you were unaware, Championship is a tough prospect, especially for the teams that are freshly relegated. That is why being pushed to the top-tier in a consecutive season is considered to be a major achievement. The last time two clubs made such a comeback was in the 2009-10 season by Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion.Β

However, Bournemouth has the golden opportunity to compete in the Premier League once again. The Cherries are fourth on the table and are guaranteed a place in the playoffs. This match will decide the third team that will once again get to enjoy world-class action.
