An easy win over Rotterdam sends Twente level on points with Feyenoord.

Twente defeated Sparta Rotterdam 2-0 in their Eredivisie game on Friday. A dominant performance saw the Reds continue their dream of securing a top-three spot.

Back-to-back wins for Twente!

The Reds came into the game on the back of their 2-0 win over NEC last week.

A goal from Ricky van Wolfswinkel put Twente ahead in the 23rd minute. The Reds had many more chances to double their lead throughout the first half. However, a few superb saves from Maduka Okoye prevented the hosts from scoring before half-time.

Twente re-started their attacks as soon as the second period started. They finally scored their second goal of the night through Michel Vlap in the 57th minute.

Sparta pushed to get back into the game in the final 20 minutes, but their efforts only resulted in more counter-attacks from the hosts.

Twente ended the game with 19 shots, seven of them on target. They could have certainly scored more against their relegation-struggling opponents. But the 2-0 win is enough to keep them in the race for a top-three finish.

What’s next for Twente?

Twente are now level on points with Feyenoord, staying behind the third-placed side because of a lower goal difference. The two sides will face off on the final day of the league campaign.

Before that, Twente must face Heracles in their next Eredivisie battle while Feyenoord meet Utrecht.
