Chelsea set to hijack £50m deal for Man City target

The Blues appear to have leapfrogged Manchester City in the transfer race for Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella.

Despite being the initial favorites to sign Cucurella, City’s reluctance to meet Brighton’s £50 million asking price has paved the way for Chelsea to swoop in and sign the 24-year-old Catalan.

The Premier League giants have agreed to match Brighton’s price. Manager Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of Cucurella, who handed in a transfer request last week. 19-year-old central defender Levi Colwill could head to the Amex as part of the deal. [The Guardian]

Schmeichel is closer than ever to joining Nice

Leicester City goalkeeper and captain Kasper Schmeichel is close to ending an 11-year stay at the King Power Stadium.

The 35-year-old Dane is on the brink of a transfer to Ligue 1 club OGC Nice. He will undergo a medical this week after expressing a desire for a new challenge in his career. [Mail]

Three Arsenal players set to leave

Goalkeeper Bernd Leno, midfielder Lucas Torreira, and striker Folarin Balogun could all leave the Emirates soon.

Arsenal have agreed to sell Leno to Fulham for an £8 million transfer fee. The German, who lost his No.1 status to Aaron Ramsdale in goal last season, has accepted personal terms with the west London club.

The Gunners are also ready to sell Torreira to Galatasaray, although the Uruguayan has not yet agreed on terms with the Turkish side. Balogun, meanwhile, is set to join French club Reims on loan. [The Guardian]

RB Leipzig are growing more confident of their chances to re-sign Timo Werner from Chelsea.

Alexis Sanchez has ended his Inter Milan contract to become a free agent amid reports of interest from Ligue 1 side Marseille.
