Barcelona to swap Griezmann for Saul?
The transfer market takes a new twist in La Liga between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. The two clubs are interested in a swap deal involving Antoine Griezmann and Saul Niguez. Nothing serious has happened yet though, as the alleged proposal is still in an early stage.
Saul is said to fit the profile Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman seeks in a midfielder. Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, meanwhile, would love to have Griezmann back. The French attacker may even lower his salary to rejoin his former club if he has to leave Barcelona. [Mundo Deportivo – in Spanish]
Varane close to sealing Manchester United move
The Red Devils are not ‘far off’ from completing a transfer deal for Raphael Varane.
The French defender would rather head straight to Manchester United once his summer holiday is over than return to Real Madrid. Both parties are hopeful a deal can be sealed in the next few weeks. [Manchester Evening News]
Mourinho to make his first signing as Roma manager
Rui Patricio will reportedly become Jose Mourinho’s first signing as AS Roma manager.
The Giallorossi have struck a deal for the Wolves goalkeeper, who will undergo a medical in Italy shortly. Fellow Portuguese keeper Jose Sa, meanwhile, could replace Patricio at Molineux. The Olympiakos star has impressed in the last few seasons and has experience in the Champions League and Europa League. [Fabrizio Romano]
Arsenal agree Saliba loan deal
The Gunners have agreed to send William Saliba out on loan to Marseille for next season.
That said, Marseille don’t have a buy option included for Saliba. The Ligue 1 giants will simply pay an undisclosed loan fee for the 2021/22 campaign and then the 20-year-old defender will return to Arsenal. [The Athletic]
Chelsea to make ‘big offer’ Haaland
The Blues are ready to test Borussia Dortmund’s resolve by making a ‘big offer’ for Erling Haaland.
Dortmund have previously stated they won’t consider transfer offers for their star striker. But if Chelsea offer around €175 million for Haaland, it may tempt the German club into a deal. [Jan Aage Fjortoft – ESPN]
Ryan seals move to Real Sociedad
Mat Ryan has completed a free transfer to Real Sociedad from Brighton.
The Australian goalkeeper, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal, has signed a two-year contract until 2023. The deal includes an option for another season. Ryan previously played in La Liga for Valencia between 2015 and 2017. [Real Sociedad]
