Barcelona consider Dembele contract termination

After failing to offload Ousmane Dembele before Monday’s transfer deadline, Barcelona are now considering terminating the winger’s contract.

Dembele’s current deal runs until the summer. With the winter transfer window closed, Barcelona can no longer sell him. Therefore, to presumably save money from his salary, they are considering parting ways early. [Albert Roge – in Spanish]

Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has allegedly agreed to join Real Madrid on a free summer transfer.

In a surprising twist, Lyon attempted to re-sign Alexandre Lacazette from Arsenal before Monday’s transfer deadline.

Manchester United blocked Lingard exit

The Red Devils blocked a loan exit for midfielder Jesse Lingard on deadline day.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick had told Lingard that he could leave the club on Monday. Newcastle and West Ham were both interested in doing a loan deal.

During talks with Newcastle, however, Manchester United insisted ‘on a survival bonus’ if the Magpies avoided relegation. West Ham, meanwhile, was a no-go from the start. United didn’t want to strengthen a direct top-four rival. [Manchester Evening News]

Liverpool failed to sign Fulham youngster

The Reds failed to complete a deadline-day transfer for Fulham winger Fabio Carvalho.

Liverpool had an £8 million transfer fee agreed, and a medical was hastily arranged in London for the 19-year-old Portuguese.
