Paris Saint-Germain want Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting to continue at the Parc des Princes and the forward is taking his time evaluating his options.
For seven years Edinson Cavani called Paris his home. The Uruguayan was a regular for Les Parisians but in the last year of his contract was third in the pecking order.
For the duration of the 2019/20 Ligue 1 campaign, Mauro Icardi was the preferred attacker for Tomas Tuchel. However, the Argentine was on the bench with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting took center stage.
Choupo-Moting was in last months of contract but playing ahead of household names. His contract with Paris Saint-Germain has expired and he is without a club.
Tuchel wants him back and has told him of his plans. According to the German manager, the Cameroonian has to decide his future now.
“It’s one of the possibilities [a new contract for Choupo-Moting]. Everything depends on whether you want to stay and accept the club’s proposal,” Goal quoted Tuchel at a press conference.
“My opinion on him has not changed, he accepts the same role than those he occupied, he can be a good player for us. His role would be the same and if he accepts, it will be well that he remains [at the club]. If he has other possibilities, he must reflect.”
PSG are without seven first-team regulars. They were defeated in their 2020/21 Ligue 1 season opener. For their next fixture, their players are in a race against time to be available for selection.
