The €95 million summer signing’s incredible start to his Bayern Munich career has Tuchel convinced that he could be about to make history.
Bayern Munich manager Thomas Tuchel thinks Harry Kane can beat Robert Lewandowski’s record of scoring 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season.
Lewandowski achieved the record in May 2021 by scoring 41 goals in 29 league games. The Pole’s goal count beat the 40-goal tally Gerd Muller accomplished in the 1971/72 campaign.
Yet, with Kane boasting a tally of 22 goals in 16 league games this season, Lewandowski’s sensational record appears under threat.
“It is in danger,” Tuchel told ESPN.
“No one could ever believe that would be in danger, but it is in danger.
“We need a bit of luck. We need the team to keep going, Harry needs to be fit, and then we see what’s coming… I clearly think that for Harry there are no limits.”
To break Lewandowski’s record, Kane would need to score another 20 goals before the 2023/24 season ends.
He has 18 Bundesliga games left with Bayern to improve on his tally, starting with Werder Bremen on Sunday.
