The Blues’ future looks bright under Tuchel, who was able to deliver continental glory in his first season in charge of the club.

Thomas Tuchel managed to “fit all the pieces together” at Chelsea, says Pablo Sarabia, who worked under the German manager at Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea took the decision of handing Tuchel their managerial reins after seeing the team struggle under club legend Frank Lampard, who was finding it hard to get the best out of a newly-assembled star-studded line-up.

An immediate change in fortunes followed as the Blues went on an impressive 14-game unbeaten streak across all competitions.

Chelsea finished fourth in the Premier League standings and beat 2020/21 English champions Manchester City to lift the Champions League trophy, while also reaching the final of the FA Cup.

“I’m really glad he won it,” Sarabia said on Tuchel’s Champions League success, speaking to Goal.

“He works very well and makes things very clear. He has done a very good job.”

Tuchel’s Chelsea have defensive solidity as one of the key sources of their strength and the manager’s system also allowing quick counter-attacks – as opposed to the tiki-taka philosophy once used by Pep Guardiola to achieve unparalleled success with Barcelona.

“They are two different styles,” Sarabia added. “It has not gone out of style.

“Simply, Tuchel has adapted to the players he has, with a young, strong group, with rhythm, with experience behind them. He has managed to fit all the pieces together.”
