Edouard Mendy faces a race against time to recover from injury for Chelsea’s Champions League final.
Thomas Tuchel will do everything in his power to ensure Edouard Mendy is fit for the Champions League final if the goalkeeper makes a speedy recovery from injury.
Mendy came off at half-time with a rib injury in Chelsea’s final day Premier League match at Aston Villa on Sunday. Kepa Arrizabalaga replaced him in the goal. And while Tuchel’s men lost 2-1 at Villa Park, they still clinched a top-four spot.

So with Champions League qualification guaranteed for next season, the Blues will be under a little less pressure for Saturday’s European final against Manchester City in Porto, Portugal.
The only serious concern right now is whether Mendy will start in goal or not.
“He fell on the frame of the net,” Tuchel said on the goalkeeper’s injury as per the club’s website.
“He has big pain in his ribs. We need to wait until we get home and we will do some images.
“Tomorrow [Monday] we will have an update on what’s going on. We have a week to prepare, and we will see if it’s possible. If it’s possible, we need to push and do everything so he is in goal on Saturday.”
