After knowing Sergio Ramos will probably play against Chelsea, Thomas Tuchel wanted to talk about the modifications he will make.

Zinedine Zidane just revealed that Sergio Ramos will likely play against Chelsea on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge. Thomas Tuchel has a plan in case this happens and he wanted to let everybody know. As we all know, Sergio Ramos is just coming back from an injury but he is more than ready to play against the Blues tomorrow. Raphael Varane’s recent injury setback leaves Ramos with a unique chance to prove he is back to his best level of performance.

But playing against Chelsea in the Champions League semifinal might be a little too much of a test for him. Regardless of what happens, Thomas Tuchel needed to make profound modifications to his tactics with Sergio Ramos as one of the players he will face. Wednesday will be a crucial one for both Chelsea and Real Madrid in their attempt to reach another Champions League final.

Tuchel’s plan for Sergio Ramos.

As per Football London, this is what Tuchel had to say: “I’m not sure if they will play again in 5-3-2 or if they will switch to their more familiar 4-3-3. That depends maybe on the last tests for Mendy and Ramos today. From this decision, things change. Any formation has its strengths and weaknesses, it’s always like this. In the semi-final of a Champions League, I believe it’s not about the formation, it’s not about what we play, what Real Madrid plays. It’s about how we play it. What intensity do we have? What belief do we have? Are we brave enough? Do we play courageously enough? Do we play at our top-level within the formation?

“There are always tactical choices but for me in these big games, it’s more about the little decisions. The individual tactical behavior, the tactical behavior with groups and combinations. Can we maybe isolate in a two against two, a two against one, a three against two, and how do we solve these situations. And can we avoid being isolated in these situations? As I said, it’s more about how we play than what we play. It’s the same for Real Madrid. We don’t know exactly what formation they will use so we will fully focus on us and our own performance.”
