In an interview with the club’s official website, the Blues boss admits he feels fortunate for having two particular players in his squad.

Chelsea are “so lucky” to have both Jorginho and N’Golo Kante in the team, says Thomas Tuchel.

Operating from the middle of the park and linking up defense with attack elegantly, Jorginho and Kante both played crucial roles in Chelsea’s Champions League-winning campaign last season.

Jorginho was a standout performer at Euro 2020 en route to Italy’s triumph, so much so that many are calling for him to win the Ballon d’Or even ahead of Lionel Messi.

Kante, meanwhile, also performed well in this summer’s competition, although his performances weren’t enough to prevent an early elimination for France.

“It’s good that they talk about our players first of all, and that it shifts a little bit and the guys like Jorgi and like N’Golo Kante are in the spotlight, because they are so, so useful and so, so helpful for any team in the world,” Tuchel told the club website.

“And we are so lucky to have them.

“Mateo Kovacic is another of that kind, he has the same mentality, the same ability, so we are absolutely happy to have these three midfielders,” the German manager added.

“They’re such a big help to any team in the world. Their approach to football is they’re true team players. They are true helpers. They make things easy for the others, they don’t hide from a lot of work, putting in a lot of effort for others.
