Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has backed Mikel Arteta after the Gunners claimed a 1-0 win at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Aubameyang ended a five-game goal drought in the League with a goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Asides from the all-important three points, it marked a win for the Gunners at that venue for the first time since 2006.

Despite the score-line, it was far from a lucky win as Arsenal were the better side and deserved all three points.

Speaking after the game, Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he was delighted to see his side get back to winning ways.

“Very big. It’s been a very tough night but I’m really happy because the team played very well tonight. It’s been a long time without a win here, so of course, it’s a big win,” he said to the club’s official website.

Aubameyang also mentioned that he himself and his teammates knew all they had to do was convert one of their chances and score.

“Yes, definitely. At half-time we were concerned we hadn’t scored but we knew that in the second half we had to score because we had some opportunists in the first half.”

“We managed the first half well and then in the second half we managed to score. After that, everyone wanted to defend as a squad. We did that well and I’m happy.”

After two successive league losses, Aubameyang led his side back to winning ways and re-echoes that they are on the right track under Mikel Arteta.

“For sure. We knew since the beginning that we had to trust the process. Mikel is bringing something very nice and everyone wants to follow him.”

Up next for Arsenal in the Premier League is a home game against Aston Villa next weekend.
