Fabrizio Romano, an Italian journalist who specializes in football transfers, has offered his insight on Chelsea’s pursuit of a new striker this summer.

Chelsea have made no serious transfer attempts to sign a new striker so far this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues want to strengthen their attack for the new season as Olivier Giroud has joined AC Milan, Tammy Abraham is out of favor, Michy Batshuayi could leave again soon, and Timo Werner hasn’t lived up to his billing.

Reports have linked Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku, in particular, to Stamford Bridge all summer. Other strikers are also in the mix, but the two forwards are considered the club’s preferred options.

But as the final month of the summer transfer window begins, Chelsea are yet to make a serious move and, if Romano’s verdict is correct, it appears signing a top striker is a long shot at best.

“For this summer, there is no chance to sign Robert Lewandowski for Chelsea,” the Italian journalist told Bench Warmers.

“Inter define Romelu Lukaku as non-transferable and untouchable, another very complicated affair.

“That’s why the dream remains Erling Haaland, but from Borussia Dortmund, the club’s version is clear: there is no offer on the table, not even an official approach. It will take madness to sell Haaland, not even €150million would be accepted. And above all, Borussia will not wait until 25/30 August despite having already bought Donyell Malen.”
