The three-time Premier League Golden Boot desperately sought pastures new in the summer, only to see his exit blocked.
Tottenham must “move on” from Harry Kane, insists former England and West Ham striker Sir Geoff Hurst as he argues that a transfer away would be beneficial for the player as well as the club.
Manchester City were heavily linked with the signing of Harry Kane in the previous transfer market. A move, however, failed to materialize as City reportedly put off their pursuit of the striker after Tottenham refused to budge on their £150 million asking price.
The 28-year-old has had a rough start to the 2021-22 season after being denied his request for a transfer as he’s yet to score a goal in five Premier League matches this season.
“The thing I would say about the Spurs situation quite clearly – they should let Harry Kane go,” Hurst told talkSPORT.
“Keeping a player who wants to move on, and maybe deserves an opportunity playing in the Champions League. Keeping him there with resistance is not necessarily good for the player and not necessarily good for the club.
“I think they should move him on, personally.
“The club is great. They have a great ground. He’s a fantastic player but I think the time is to move on and progress. It’s my humble opinion about this situation.”
