The Spurs have contacted Manchester United over a potential bid for Jesse Lingard.
Following a successful loan spell at West Ham last season, Jesse Lingard seemed ready to find his feet at Old Trafford again. However, upon returning to Manchester United, the 29-year-old has continued to struggle for game time.
Lingard has made only 13 appearances for the Red Devils this season, scoring twice. The English forward has now received an offer to leave the club after eight years.
According to football.london, Tottenham have contacted Lingard over a potential move to north London. Lingard’s current contract expires in the winter, making the current window United’s last chance to receive a transfer fee.
However, several English sources have confirmed Lingard has no desire to leave United mid-season. The Englishman reportedly wants to fight his way back to the Red Devils’ lineup in the remaining months.
Tottenham could reportedly wait until the next summer for a move. However, they prefer to avoid competition by finalizing a transfer this January. The potential departure of Steven Bergwijn could raise enough funds for pursuing a winter deal.
On the other hand, United are spending a transitional period under Ralf Rangnick. The manager has not fully found regular starters, while some players are already frustrated with their lack of game time.
