The former Spurs manager returns to London to take charge at Stamford Bridge.

Harry Kane has backed his former manager Mauricio Pochettino to succeed at Chelsea.

Most observers believe a tough first season is awaiting Pochettino at Stamford Bridge. The Blues sacked two managers last season, eventually finishing 12th in the Premier League under Frank Lampard.

Speaking about his former manager, Kane told Reuters“Mauricio [Pochettino] was an amazing manager for me.

“Great person, great, great coach. He helped me a lot to get to where I am now. I wish him all the best. I hope he does well – just obviously not as well as us!”

Kane reached his peak form under Pochettino, establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s best strikers. The England captain maintained consistency despite Tottenham’s poor results last season, registering 30 goals in the Premier League.

Chelsea were among Kane’s suitors last summer. However, Tottenham’s demands for the striker have only left Manchester United in the race to sign him.

Bayern Munich, who pursued a move for Kane last year, have shifted their focus toward signing Dusan Vlahovic. Chelsea, on the other hand, are keen to work with their existing attacking options, including Mykhailo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling.

The Blues start their summer camp in Florida with a match against Wrexham on July 19.
