A French forward appears to be close to making the jump to the Premier League after making a name for himself in Bundesliga.
Tottenham are in “advanced discussions” to sign Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach, reports reputed journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi.
Uncertainty surrounding Harry Kane’s future has resulted in a number of forwards getting linked to Tottenham, with one of of them being Thuram, who has drawn the attention of several top European clubs with his impressive performances of last season.
The son of the former France defender Lillian Thuram is tied to the German club until 2023 and his €30 million release clause, as per reports in Germany, expired this summer.
The 23-year-old, however, according to Bouhafsi, is “expected to leave” to exit the BORUSSIA-PARK this summer and is a “priority” for Spurs, who have seemingly started planning for the transfer market despite still being without a manager.
Thuram notched up eight goals and seven assists to help Monchengladbach to a top-half Bundesliga finish, while also contributing a further three goals and five assists in the Champions League and DFB-Pokal.
The Frenchman’s form saw him get included in Didier Deschamps’s squad for Euro 2020, although the surplus of attacking options in the shape of the likes of Karim Benzema, Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann will make it quite hard for him feature.
