The prolific Englishman was forced off the pitch in the second half of the match against Liverpool after he had damaged both his ankles.
Harry Kane is expecting to return to action for Tottenham in “a couple of weeks”, says Jose Mourinho.
Kane injured both his ankles during the 3-1 defeat against Liverpool on Thursday and missed the subsequent match against Brighton on Sunday.
Spurs struggled in the absence of their talisman as they suffered their second successive Premier League defeat.
Mourinho will have to find a way to cope up without a player who has been involved in 23 of his team’s 34 league goals as the striker is also expected to miss the upcoming fixtures against Chelsea, West Brom, and Everton.
Kane, though, is ‘optimistic’ that the damage on his ankles is not as severe as previous ones he has suffered.
“The news is pretty good news,” said Mourinho after Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to Brighton, as per the club’s official website. “After Liverpool, no idea. Then the next day, we were thinking about three weeks, something like that.
“I don’t want to be super-optimistic, but Harry is optimistic, he has the experience of some injuries in his ankles and in Harry’s mind, it’s a couple of weeks, so let’s see if he’s right.”
