The Spurs’ losing run continued with another frustrating display on home soil.

Aston Villa suffered a 2-1 defeat against Tottenham in their Premier League game on Sunday. Villa completed a stunning comeback to beat Spurs in London.

What happened?

Tottenham found a solid start to the game as they put Villa under pressure by dominating the possession. Following a few missed chances, Giovani Lo Celso scored his first goal for Spurs with an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box in the 22nd minute.

Aston Villa’s response was quick as they pushed for an instant equalizer. Unai Emery’s men thought they had made it 1-1 only five minutes later, but VAR ruled out Ollie Watkins’ header. The visitors, however, continued their attacks and finally got back into the game just before the half-time whistle.

Pau Torres’ equalizer motivated Villa to complete their comeback in the second half. However, it was Spurs who pushed to restore their lead early on. Following a host of missed chances on both sides, Villa finally made it 2-1 through Watkins in the 61st minute.

Tottenham regained their dominance over the game as they tried to escape the defeat, but solid defending and brilliant saves from Emiliano Martinez maintained Villa’s lead.
