The Spurs snatched a narrow win to close in on the Premier League’s top four.

Tottenham defeated Manchester City 1-0 in their Premier League game on Sunday. The Citizens missed a golden opportunity to close their five-point gap to Arsenal at the top of the league table.

Harry Kane makes history!

Antonio Conte’s side came into the game on the back of back-to-back defeats against Fulham and Man City. But their solid start to the game showed they came into the match to claim a different result.

The hosts scored only 15 minutes into the game after making a few unsuccessful attempts to break the deadlock.

Following a short pass from Pierre-Emile Højbjerg inside the box, Harry Kane scored his 200th Premier League goal. The England captain became Tottenham’s top-scorer of all time, surpassing Jimmy Greaves by registering his 267th goal for Spurs.

City immediately started their efforts to get back into the game after Kane’s goal. Pep Guardiola’s men came close to scoring just before the break. But Riyad Mahrez’s shot hit the bar as Tottenham held on to their lead.

The Spurs successfully continued their counter-pressing against the Citizens in the second half. Guardiola finally brought in Kevin De Bruyne just before the hour mark.

The Belgium international made a brilliant goalscoring chance for Julian Alvarez, whose shot missed the target by a few inches.

City’s pressure mounted on their hosts’ backline, with Tottenham going a man down in the 87th minute. Cristian Romero received a second yellow card after his foul on Jack Grealish.

However, the Citizens were not able to use the numerical advantage to score the equalizer. Guardiola’s side stay five points behind Arsenal, who also lost their league game this weekend.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are now only one point behind Newcastle, who sit fourth in the English top flight.
