Olympic Stadium Grande Torino was the place where we got a city derby between Torino and Juventus. We got the player ratings.
Juventus is not going through their best moment of the last decade, they struggled too much today against Torino. Not even Cristiano Ronaldo’s presence could help them in the Turin Derby this evening at Grande Torino Stadium. Initially, Federico Chiesa scored an early opening goal after an assist from Alvaro Morata. Sanabria got the equalizer before halftime in order to give Torino the tranquility they needed for the second half.
This goal did wonders right after the break as Sanabria scored Torino’s second goal to give his side the lead. Cristiano Ronaldo was struggling to find himself the ideal moment to score his goal. Complicated rivals keep getting more and more difficult for the Portuguese star, especially in crunch matches like this one. In recent years, Cristiano will score against teams like Kosovo or Cagliari but he tends to disappear on days like today. Regardless of his recent history, Ronaldo still had over half an hour to silence his critics.
Cristiano gets that equalizer in due time.
Cristiano Ronaldo knew that he needed to get a goal in an important game like this one. He struggled to find goals during the international break with Portugal and he needed his fix. The key moment came after a disallowed goal from the ref that made Cristiano protest the call after his header. Upon review from VAR, Juventus was given the equalizer and Ronaldo could finally celebrate his goal in a big match.
After this, he got a little more confident in front of goal but Sirigu denied him a couple more times. In the end, Juventus wasn’t able to get that winning goal against Torino despite Ronaldo’s efforts. Another negative result for a squad that remains in the fight to get another Serie A title.
