Let’s review the most memorable moments from Messi’s short spell at Parc des Princes.

One of the most iconic football transfers in history saw Lionel Messi end his 21-year spell at Barcelona in August 2021.
It didn’t take long before the Argentine superstar’s next club was revealed: Paris Saint-Germain signed Messi on a two-year contract worth £25m per year.

Messi’s stint at Parc des Princes wasn’t comparable to his legendary career at Barcelona. However, there are still moments to remember from his two seasons at the club.

5- A much-awaited debut

Messi completed his move to PSG in early August 2021, but fitness problems kept him out of action until the end of the month.

Finally, on April 30, the Argentine superstar played his first competitive club match for a team other than Barcelona. He came on for Neymar in the 66th minute, helping his side beat Reims 2-0.

4- A hat-trick of assists

One of Messi’s finest performances for PSG saw the former Barca star register a hat-trick of assists in his side’s 6-1 crushing of Clermont Foot.

PSG’s devastating trio of Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe were on fire as PSG dominated their opponents. Both Neymar and Mbappe scored hat-tricks as Messi provided three assists.

3- A last-minute free-kick

Messi scored a host of spectacular goals during his spell at PSG. But his fantastic free-kick against Lille stands out as one of his most memorable moments at the club.

The Argentine icon’s unstoppable free-kick completed PSG’s dramatic comeback against Lille, helping them win 4-3 on home soil.

2- Parc des Princes’ first-ever Ballon d’Or

Messi claimed the seventh Ballon d’Or of his career in November 2021.

Having helped Argentina win the Copa America, the PSG star edged out Robert Lewandowski in a close race for the Ballon d’Or. Two days later, Parc des Princes hosted the prestigious award for the first time in the club’s history.

1- Back-to-back Ligue 1 titles

Messi scored PSG’s only goal in their 1-1 draw against Strasbourg on May 27 2023. The game secured Messi’s second Ligue 1 trophy at the club in a memorable night that saw the Argentine international make history with two all-time records.

The goal against Strasbourg saw Messi break Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the most goals scored in Europe’s top five leagues. The Argentine international registered his 496th goal in 577 senior appearances with Barca and PSG.
Messi also equalled Dani Alves’ record for winning the most trophies. The Ligue 1 trophy was the 35-year-old’s 43rd title of his career.
