Transfers between two bitter rivals in Italian football is a really common thing. That’s why you will find only legendary players in the following top 10 list.

The most shocking fact is that nine of these 10 football stars have also represented AC Milan, which means they played for the biggest three Serie A sides. Without further ado, here we go!

One of the greatest-ever Serie A forwards Christian ‘Bobo’ Vieri won the Italian Championship only once and it was in the sole year he spent as a Juventus player back in 1996-97.

He moved to Inter two years later via Atletico Madrid and Lazio, but only lifted the Coppa Italia once in his six-year spell with the Nerazzurri.

Not everyone knows that Leonardo Bonucci started his career at Inter, making only one Serie A appearance and four across all competitions in the blue and black shirt of the club.

His move to Juventus came in 2010, where he won seven of the last eight Italian Championships, missing out only in the 2017-18 campaign – when he played for AC Milan.

8. Edgar Davids

Legendary Dutch midfielder Edgar Davids joined Juventus from AC Milan back in December 1997, having previously made a name for himself when he won the UEFA Champions League with Ajax a couple of years before.

Davids lifted the Scudetto three times in his six-year spell at the Delle Alpi Stadium and spent a few months on loan at Barcelona before his move to Inter during the summer of 2004.

Another legendary midfielder Marco Tardelli joins the list, who will always be remembered in Italian football history by his goal in the 1982 FIFA World Cup Final 3-1 win over Germany.

Tardelli’s best days came at Juventus, where he won five Serie A titles and the European Cup between 1975 and 1985. He moved to Inter in his veteran days, spending two of the last three years of his professional career.

Let’s continue with the midfielders, with Patrick Vieira being our pick for the ‘Number 5’ spot. Mostly remembered for his glorious days at Arsenal, Vieira switched the Gunners for Juventus back in 2005.

The Bianconeri were relegated to Serie B one year later and the Frenchman left the sinking ship, joining their bitter rivals Inter, where he won four consecutive Italian Championships.

5. Fabio Cannavaro

One of the greatest ever Italian defenders, Fabio Cannavaro made a name for himself at Parma, before joining Inter in the summer of 2002.

Two years later, he was sold to Juventus in a surprising part-exchange deal, after just over 50 appearances and two goals. In 2006, Cannavaro won the FIFA World Cup with Italy and was awarded the Ballon d’Or. He is still the last defender to have won the ‘Golden Ball’.

4. Giuseppe Meazza

Wondering why Inter call the San Siro Stadium – Giuseppe Meazza when they are playing at home? It is named by their legendary striker who scored 282 goals for the club between 1927 and 1940.

He switched the Nerazzurri for AC Milan in 1940 and joined Juventus two years later, where he spent only one season, netting 10 times in 27 Serie A appearances.

3. Roberto Baggio

Italy’s Player of the Century, Roberto Baggio enjoyed the best days of his career while representing Juventus between 1990 and 1995. He won the UEFA Cup in 1993 and a domestic double in his final season with the Bianconeri.

His move to Inter came in 1998, where he stayed for two years, before moving to Brescia, where he finished his career at the end of the 2003-04 campaign.

2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The Big Swede, Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his first steps in Italian football when he signed for Juventus from Ajax, back in 2004. He won two back-to-back Scudetti with Juve, both of them revoked by Calciopoli.

The Old Lady was also relegated to Serie B in the wake of the scandal, while Zlatan decided it is time to leave and joined Inter – where he won three consecutive Italian Championships in his three-year spell at the club.

1. Andrea Pirlo

The midfield maestro spent a brief period of his career at Inter, making only 22 Serie A appearances in the black and blue jersey between 1998 and 2001.

Letting him go turned out the be one of Inter’s biggest-ever mistakes, as Pirvo developed into Italy’s greatest midfielder in the 21st century.

He joined Juventus in 2011, having previously won the UEFA Champions League twice with AC Milan, and went on to lift the Serie A four times in his four years in Turin.
