Chelsea forward Timo Werner has given his verdict on England’s hopes of glory in Euro 2020 after reaching the semi-finals.

England have ‘all they need to win’ the European Championship this summer, says Timo Werner.

The 25-year-old is perhaps in a better place than most people to judge England’s title chances, having been a part of the Germany squad that lost 2-0 to the Three Lions last week in the last-16 stage.

Gareth Southgate’s men continued their fine form on Saturday by thrashing Ukraine 4-0 in the quarter-finals in Rome. Harry Kane scored twice, with Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson supplying the other two goals.

Now Werner, who was speaking at the Formula One Grand Prix on Sunday in Austria, has backed England to go all the way this summer.

“Yes, I think so! After yesterday, of course,” he told Sky Sports.

“They played a brilliant game against Ukraine and I think in the end they were the better team in the game on Tuesday [against Germany].

“So they have all they need to win the Euros and I wish them all the best.”

Werner, who didn’t score or assist in any of his three appearances in Euro 2020, is now on holiday to wind down from a long and grueling season of football.

England, meanwhile, will welcome Denmark to Wembley on Wednesday for a semi-final clash in Euro 2020.
