Kicking off the latest round of transfer gossip is Manchester United’s ongoing search for a new permanent manager.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as a surprise candidate. The Italian won the Champions League with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2014. He is, however, more of a backup option. Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag, and Luis Enrique are the top targets at Old Trafford.

Ancelotti also has a close relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson, someone new United CEO Richard Arnold has turned to for advice. [Times – subscription required]

Hector Herrera to join Houston Dynamo FC

The Atletico Madrid midfielder will join the MLS side on a free transfer this summer once his contract in Spain ends. He has signed an initial two-year contract, with an option for further 12 months included.

Bayern Munich to rival Arsenal & Tottenham for Spence

The German giants are interested in signing Middlesbrough right-back Djed Spence.

Bayern Munich have sent scouts to watch the 21-year-old, who is on loan at Nottingham Forest. If he continues to impress, they plan to approach Middlesbrough about a transfer in the summer. Arsenal and Tottenham are also heavily interested. [Sky Sports]
