Chelsea ready to rival Liverpool for £55m midfielder

The Blues are ready to compete with Liverpool for the transfer of Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes.

Liverpool tried to sign Nunes from Sporting CP last year, but Wolves got there first. The Wanderers signed the 24-year-old for £44 million, but may sell him this summer for at least £55 million. [Telegraph – subscription required]

Everton have no transfer request from Gordon

Anthony Gordon has not handed in a transfer request to Everton.

The 21-year-old winger has missed the last two days of training amid interest from Premier League rivals Newcastle United, but he is expected to report back to the club on Thursday for training. [Sky Sports]

Bielsa-Everton talks collapse

Talks between Everton and Marcelo Bielsa have collapsed.

Everton had lined Bielsa up as a potential replacement for the fired Frank Lampard. However, talks broke down, as the Blues couldn’t handle all the Argentine’s requests, including a package of over £10 million for himself and his staff. They will look at other options. These include Ralph Hasenhuttl, Sam Allardyce, and West Brom’s Carlos Corberan. [Independent]

Torres to swap Barca for Atleti?

Atletico Madrid are monitoring Ferran Torres’ situation at Barcelona.

The 22-year-old forward could leave Barcelona in the summer transfer window if he is no longer part of the club’s plans. Barca also have an eye on Atletico winger Yannick Carrasco. This could open the door for a potential swap deal between the LaLiga sides. [Diario Sport]

Tottenham set their sights on Porro

Sporting CP right-back Pedro Porro is next on the transfer list for Tottenham.

The north Londoners have signed Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal, but now want Porro. Negotiations have been back and forth so far. Sporting want Tottenham to pay the player’s €45 million release clause. However, by lowering their cut from any sale Sporting make for ex-Spurs academy player Marcus Edwards, Antonio Conte’s side hope to reduce Porro’s fee. [The Guardian]
