Ex-Ghana international Mohammed Gargo says Thomas Partey will be making a smart move leaving Atletico Madrid for Arsenal.
Thomas Partey is an Atletico Madrid player for now but his future remains in doubt.
The 27-year-old is rumored to be the Gunners’ priority target ahead of next season. Although, the likelihood is that the North London club must sell a number of players to raise cash for a transfer.
Partey reportedly has a £45m release clause in his contract that could be a stumbling block for the Gunners. Still on the player, Atletico are still trying all they can to keep him at the club this summer.
Gargo, who once starred for the Black Stars says a move to Arsenal would be a step in the right direction for the Atletico star.
“I think he should move [to Arsenal]” Gargo told Citi FM.
“I think it’s going to make him a quicker player than he is today.”
“Who would want to move from class three to class two instead of going to class four?”
“Moving to Arsenal is going to give him another opportunity to take him a step forward, it is going to build him up and make him a better player for the Black Stars [Ghana national team]”
“So for me, if I were to be him, I would take this offer.”
Arsenal’s chances of signing Partey at any point in time will depend on how fast they can sell off fringe players at the club.
