Anderlecht midfielder Sambi Lokonga is the player that Thierry Henry has reportedly recommended to Arsenal.

The Gunners may pursue a new central midfielder in the summer as loan signings Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard will return to parent club Real Madrid. Reports have also linked Matteo Guendouzi with a move to Marseille.

Brighton star Yves Bissouma, meanwhile, has been touted as an ideal midfield partner for Thomas Partey. Joe Willock will also return on the back of a goal-laden loan spell with Newcastle.

And according to Voetbal24, another midfield target could be on Mikel Arteta’s shortlist in Lokonga.

The Belgian outlet claims Henry has vouched for Lokonga and could play a middleman role in the transfer given his close ties with Arsenal and good relationship with Anderlecht manager Vincent Kompany.

Offers of around €15 million to €20 million would be enough to tempt Anderlecht into a sale.

Lokonga is currently on Belgium’s reserve list for the European Championship this summer after failing to make Roberto Martinez’s 26-man squad.

Despite this setback, the 21-year-old is rated highly in Belgium. He has already captained Anderlecht and made 78 first-team appearances for the club.
