The Belgium international gave a short update on his injury to Real Madrid supporters as he works on his recovery.

Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has thanked the club’s fans for their support and revealed he is steadily working on his recovery from injury.

On August 10, Courtois ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee. The injury came during a training session. He has since kicked off his road to recovery after undergoing knee surgery.

“Thank you to everyone for the support and the energy!” Courtois posted on social media.

“Little by little I’m taking the first steps in my recovery.”

It’s been a tough time for Real Madrid since Courtois’ injury. The Spanish giants may have won all three of their opening games in LaLiga, but they were left short of keepers.

In the end, Real Madrid signed Kepa Arrizabalaga on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea. The Spaniard made his debut last Friday, keeping a clean sheet to help Real Madrid to a 1-0 victory over Celta Vigo.

Kepa has expressed a desire to make the move permanent next year. If that’s the case, he could compete with Courtois for the number one jersey when the Belgian returns to the fold.
