It appears Los Blancos are set to sever ties with their talismanic captain, who is currently in his 16th season at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid would “miss Sergio Ramos badly if he left”, asserts Hamit Altintop as he calls for the captain to be handed a contract extension.

Uncertainty has surrounded Ramos’ future lately with him, as things stand, set to drop into free agency at the end of the season.

The 35-year-old, as a result, has been attracting unwanted attention from abroad as the likes of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be interested in securing his services.

He is currently out injured but remains instrumental as ever for the Spanish champions, having featured 20 times in all competitions so far this season, scoring four goals.

The center-back has helped the team scale great heights over the years – including guiding them to a Champions League ‘threepeat’ – and a former Real Madrid midfielder suggests he would be nearly impossible to replace should he be allowed to leave for free.

Altintop exclusively told Goal: “Sergio Ramos is amazing. He’s amazing. On and off the pitch.

“He knows the rules. He knows what’s needed to get results, to win the biggest trophies. His experience is incredible. Not many players spend 15 or 16 years at Real Madrid.

“I have a lot of respect for him, and he deserves everything; all trophies, all contracts, all interest! Real would miss him badly if he left.”
