With the year now over, the top goalscorers of 2023 have been revealed.
Topping the list of the top goalscorers in 2023 was Cristiano Ronaldo with 54 goals in 59 matches for Al Nassr and Portugal. This is the fifth time he has accomplished this, with his highest goal count since 2016.
The 38-year-old thanked his team on Instagram at the weekend, posting: “54 — I’ll say when it’s finished! Thanks, team.”
According to stats collected by the IFFHS, Ronaldo finished two goals clear of his nearest rivals, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane. The Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich duo bagged 52 goals each. Erling Haaland finished fourth with 50 goals. Garbhan Coughlan rounded up the top five by scoring for the Republic of Ireland and New Zealand-based club Cashmere Technical.
