The La Liga champions appear off-track early in the season but their manager, cool as ever, is confident about his side will gain momentum.

Real Madrid clinched their record 34th La Liga title last season, with their success built on a solid defense, a remarkable unbeaten streak, and, most importantly, consistency.

The Spanish giants have, however, looked far from that team this term.

2020/21 has brought troubling times with itself for them as they sit fourth in La Liga, having picked up 17 points from a possible 27.

Zinedine Zidane’s men are without a win in their previous two league matches, drawing 1-1 to Villarreal away from home after suffering an embarrassing 4-1 defeat against Valencia prior to the international break.

Nothing less than three points are expected for Real Madrid to take away from their upcoming meeting with Alaves.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Zidane remains optimistic that his side will soon find their rhythm.

“I’m very positive. I’m in a privileged position and, in the end, the sun always comes out [after a storm]. That’s life,” asserted the Frenchman.

“With the quality we have, we’re going to have good results. We’re going to have more difficult moments, but we’ll try to move on.

“It’s not an attitude problem. This is football, and sometimes we can have difficulties that we can’t understand. But consistency in football is the most difficult thing, and we have to work to achieve it every day.”
