Ahead of Inter Milan’s upcoming UCL visit to Real Madrid, Arturo Vidal explained the reason he loves playing against Los Blancos.
Arturo Vidal has an interesting past as one of Real Madrid’s fiercest rivals. Over the years, the Chilean midfielder has been directly linked to several Champions League confrontations against the club from the Spanish capital. He played against them when he represented Juventus and Bayern Munich. When he played for the Italian club, he was part of the squad that eliminated Los Blancos in the tournament semifinals.
That was an extremely pleasurable moment in his career but he would be at the other end of the stick with Bayern Munich. While at the German club, his side was eliminated twice by Real Madrid with strange referee calls when VAR didn’t exist yet. Vidal was very loud in his complaints by hinting at corruption from the Spanish side. Facing this club always fires him up because of this.
Vidal is all fired up to play against Real Madrid.
Now that he gets closer to facing Los Blancos again, Arturo Vidal explained why he is so excited to face Real Madrid. Inter Milan is making the trip to face Zidane’s squad at Alfredo Di Stefano stadium in Valdebebas.
Talking to Sky Sport Italia, Vidal said: “It’s a beautiful game. I spent two amazing years in Barcelona and the games against Real Madrid are always the best. Hopefully, I can celebrate a victory tomorrow with all the Inter followers and Barça supporters. It will be an intense match and key for this group.
“Playing against Real Madrid is nice but for us, every match is a final. We will play twice against Real Madrid when I was at Bayern and we couldn’t make it. I think we could’ve won the Champions League twice if we had beaten them. There’s a lot of excitement to play this competition and I work everyday for a dream.”
