The Norwegian hitman has been making waves in the football world, and his rise to stardom has not gone unnoticed by the Reds boss.
Jurgen Klopp admits his admiration for “extraordinary talent” Erling Haaland while also hinting that Liverpool would be interested in signing the striker.
Haaland, who recorded a sensational tally of 41 goals and 12 assists in 2020-21, picked up right where he left off last season as he almost single-handedly guided Borussia Dortmund to victory in their Bundesliga opener last week.
He was involved in all of Dortmund’s goals in the rout of Frankfurt, scoring two goals and setting up three more in the 5-2 victory.
The 21-year-old, despite still being in the very early stages of his career, has developed himself into one of the world’s best players, so much so that he’s widely regarded as football’s next superstar after Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
“Of course there is a danger with such an extraordinary talent. The boy is a force of nature,” Klopp told Bild.
“During a goal celebration he hit the ball on the ground… I wasn’t sure if there was a dent in the ground after!
“Sooner or later he’ll be in the conversation of big clubs. I don’t know if that will already be the case next year, but then Dortmund will have to stand up to him.”
Quizzed whether Liverpool would be interested in signing Haaland, Klopp replied: “He is simply a very interesting player.
“I really like the energy he brings to the pitch. But he would generally suit most teams.”
