Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta has no doubts when it comes to the best European side of the moment.

The Gunners will take on Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium this Sunday afternoon. It will be a very tough game for Arteta’s side since they’ll be facing a team that currently has 17 wins in a row. As Arsenal face the Premier League’s leaders, their manager is very aware of the struggles they might face.

“We have a big but, as well, a very exciting challenge ahead of us on Sunday,” said Arteta. “The football they are playing and consistency of results, take all that in and it makes them the best team. They have weaknesses like every team but at the moment teams have struggled a lot to find any of that because I think first of all defensively they have been really, really strong. I think they are the best team in Europe at the moment.”

Nevertheless, the young manager may have a trick up his sleeve since he was Guardiola’s assistant coach before joining the Gunners in 2019. Despite the game’s difficulty, Arteta knows how important this match is for his team.

“It could define our season if we are unable to close the gaps to them but it can create momentum for us if we can get closer to them,” Arteta said. “We know the margin for error is minimal with the season that we have had so we need to kick on.”
