FIFA has shortlisted three finalists for this year’s Best FIFA Men’s Coach award.

Last year, Jurgen Klopp won the award for best men’s coach of the year. The Liverpool manager has not made it into this year’s shortlist. However, two other Premier League managers have the chance to win the prestigious award.

FIFA has shortlisted Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola alongside Italy gaffer Roberto Mancini.

Thomas Tuchel started the year by joining Chelsea mid-season. Over the course of a few months, the German manager improved the Blues significantly, finishing fourth in the Premier League. However, his most significant achievement came in the Champions League, where his side won the tournament as the underdogs.

Chelsea defeated Manchester City in the final, preventing them from completing a treble. Pep Guardiola, once again, failed to clinch the Champions League title. However, his side won the Premier League and the Carabao Cup last season with their trademark attacking performances.

The last coach on the shortlist is Mancini, who has received recognition for his success with Italy. The Italian coach led his nation to their first European Championship trophy in over 50 years. However, his chances of winning the award have decreased after Italy’s failure in securing automatic qualification for the 2022 World Cup.

FIFA will announce the winner during a ceremony on January 17.
