Arsenal have been linked with Norwich star Emiliano Buendia and have now been told an idea of how much they must pay to land the player.

Arsenal are reportedly in search of a creative name and Emiliano Buendia has been strongly linked with the Gunners to fill in that role.

With the departure of Mesut Ozil to Fenerbahce, there is room for an attacking midfielder to come in and Mikel Arteta is reportedly on the lookout for such a player.

Struggles for creativity have plagued the Gunners all season and many have identified Buendia as an ideal target for the north London side.

The 24-year-old was a stand-out player for the Canaries in their disappointing Premier League campaign last season. He averaged 3.1 chances created per 90 minutes and recorded seven assists as they were relegated from the top flight.

Buendia is one of several players on the Gunners’ transfer shortlist and Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the Argentine.

According to The Transfer Show, Arsenal must be ready to pay £40-50m if they want to sign the Norwich star.

Sky Journalist Kavel Solhekol said: “One player they (Arsenal) have been watching very closely is Emi Buendia at Norwich City.”

“I have been in touch with some people close to the player today. They say the situation is that the player himself is focused on his job at Norwich. They are doing really well in the Championship, top of the table. They can see the Premier League on the horizon.”

“The problem Arsenal would have with trying to sign him this month is how much it would cost. Norwich are a very well-run club with a sustainable business model. I have been told it would take a crazy offer for them to be tempted to sell him this month. A crazy offer we are looking at somewhere between £40m and £50m.”

Realistically, Arsenal might not be able to afford that amount especially in the January window and it makes any chances of signing Buendia pretty slim at the moment.
