Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG all feature as part of the clubs that have spent the most money this summer.

With only a week left of the summer transfer window, clubs are in a major scramble to make last-ditch signings. Choosing the right player is critical, a task that isn’t easy to accomplish or cheap for that matter.

Deciding on the right stars can be the difference between success and failure for clubs. Arsenal, for instance, have spent a huge amount of cash but have still lost their opening two games of the season.

According to Transfermarkt, the Gunners top the list of highest-spending clubs this summer. Mikel Arteta’s side have outspent their nearest rivals Manchester City by €19.5 million. They have invested €147m on five signings – Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Travares – so far.

As mentioned previously, City follow in second place. Pep Guardiola’s side spent €117.5 million on Jack Grealish and €10m on Kayky, who will stay at Fluminense in Brazil until January. Scott Carson, on the other hand, arrived on a free transfer from Derby County.

The highest-placed non-Premier League side on this highest-spending clubs list is AS Roma on €97.8m. Leipzig are eighth and ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, who spent just €76m despite all their high-profile recruits.
