Two own goals from Malacia and Maguire canceled out Sabitzer’s first-half brace in Thursday’s Europa League match.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag rued his side’s luck after a 2-2 home draw against Sevilla in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie.

On Thursday, Marcel Sabitzer scored a quick-fire first-half double. The brace left United with a two-goal lead until the final six minutes of normal time.

First, Jesus Navas’ shot bounced off Tyrell Malacia to cut Sevilla’s deficit down to one goal. Then, in the second minute of added time, a Youssef En-Nesyri header glanced off Harry Maguire, handing the Spanish team a valuable 2-2 draw.

“I think we had the game in hand,” Ten Hag told BT Sport.

“We should have scored three or four … and then some unlucky moments with injuries. And then we conceded two own goals and that’s bad luck. We have to deal with it. Of course, we have to learn that we have to kill the game.”

United will now take on Nottingham Forest this Sunday in the Premier League. They will then head to Sevilla for the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final contest.
