The club’s leading goalscorer has missed the last two games through a leg injury and illness.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has provided an update on Marcus Rashford’s fitness ahead of the highly anticipated match against Chelsea on Thursday night.

According to Ten Hag, Rashford is expected to be available for selection, but he remains unsure if the striker is completely fit to start the game.

“It looks like [it],” the Dutchman said when asked if Rashford will be available in a press conference on Wednesday.

“Yesterday, he returned to training, he looks quite fit but we have to see today what is the outcome of the training, how did we recover and then we will make our choices.”

As Manchester United’s top scorer, Rashford’s presence in the game could be crucial for the team’s success. However, the Ten Hag may have to make a decision on whether to risk him or start another striker.

He selected Anthony Martial in last weekend’s 1-0 win at Bournemouth, but the Frenchman lasted only 57 minutes before returning to the bench.

“If you are not available, you can’t score,” Ten Hag added.

“When he was available we played better, the team is winning games, [and] he’s also scoring goals but he has to be available.”

A draw on Thursday will be enough to seal United a top-four finish in the Premier League for this season.
