The left-back couldn’t enjoy as much playing time as he would’ve expected due to the rejuvenation of Luke Shaw.

Alex Telles is satisfied with his debut season at Manchester United, saying he “learnt a great deal” and “developed as a player”.

Man United paid Porto €15million to secure the services of Telles, who signed a four-year contract with the 20-time English champions with the option of extending his stay by an additional year.

The Brazil international was limited to just 16 starts and managed only 24 appearances across all competition for Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s side in 2020/21 as the Red Devils endured yet another trophyless season.

The 28-year-old believes, though, is hopeful about his future at Old Trafford as he believes there is more to come from him in his second season at the club.

Telles told Man Utd’s official website: “Yes, I believe I’ve made the most of this season.

“I’ve learnt a great deal, I learnt a lot of things, I’ve developed as a player and a person as well.

“I’m really happy with my first season at United and I’m sure that next season will be even better.

“I think I always took the opportunity to do my best whenever I was on the pitch. I had good games, with the adaptation process the first season isn’t easy, but I believe that when Ole gave me the opportunity and placed his trust in me and put me on the pitch, I did my best.

“I’m sure that I’ll continue doing even better to spend more time on the pitch and get a lot more minutes.”
